I’ve sold 2 cars in my first three days of work. The only days this week I didn’t sell anything were my first day and my day off. I’m pretty proud of myself and ready to keep pushing for a successful first month!

Are you being sarcastic? Or are you really inquiring?

Selling at gunpoint, obviously.

Good for you, keep it up. I’m in a funk right now. Can’t close a deal to save my ass. Not fun.

Happens to everyone man. I’ll tell you what I was told last time it happened to me:
Even if you can’t see the cracks, just keep beating on bricks and eventually the whole wall will come crumbling down in front of you.

Umm. Be bold, but polite. Be enthusiastic, but professional. And educate customers while listening to what they want and need.

i think most folks fall flat on that last bit...........

Absolutely. When people get complacent and simply become order takers is usually when their sells fall off and unless they break the habit, they settle into a (low) plateau.

i imagine its not too hard to get a bit complacent, when dealing with tons of tire kickers......... also hard to stay enthusiastic, without getting pushy.......

I think people stay so scared of losing deals when they start that they mentally switch off after a while as a coping mechanism. That’s why I’ve trained myself not to worry about losing deals. Instead I worry about working for free. When you give a car away, you’re almost working for free. I’d rather do the leg work, find the perfect car for them, make them fall in love with it, and make the money I should for the dealer and myself.

i imagine that does make quite the difference, getting people to love what they are getting........ i know, that when I am buying something, if it is what i really want, i dont care what it costs.........
so you haggle much?, or do you more than less stick to a “this is what things cost”........?

I try not to haggle if I can help it. It tends to drag the experience down and even if the customer gets a better price that way, they don’t feel as good about it.
